Some frequently asked questions about NASPA Ski Garden. We will add more Q&A here soon.

Shipment of baggage in advance
You can send your baggage to NASPA New Otani in advance of arrival.
Usually, it takes one day from Tokyo, Osaka, and Kanazawa; it may take at least 2 days from Hokkaido.
Note: During the winter period, sometimes delivery times are delayed due to road conditions and heavy snow. Please check with the delivery company before shipment.
The Kuroneko Yamato transportation company is a convenient option as they have a counter desk inside our hotel. Please include the check-in date and reservation name in the note on the delivery slip. This will ensure that you will be able to receive your baggage smoothly upon your arrival at the hotel.

Our postal address is:

Please note that shipment from the hotel is also available.

Is snowboarding allowed at NASPA Ski Garden?
We are sorry, but snowboarding at NASPA Ski Garden – the ski hill behind the hotel - is not allowed.
However, snowboarders are very welcome to stay in the hotel! Rental snowboards are available at our Rental Shop, as well as lockers to store a snowboard. There are some other ski resort slopes nearby that allow to snowboard (for example, GALA Yuzawa and Yuzawa kogen). A free shuttle bus is available to those slopes and only takes about 5 minutes from NASPA hotel. For more information on those resorts:

Also, another famous ski and snowboard resort and popular with snowboarders is called Kagura Mitsumata and just a 15 minute drive away from the hotel. Kagura opens from the end of November until the end of May each season. We have a package including a lift ticket and transportation service for the round trip - please check here for more details.

Is there any special Kids Area at NASPA Ski Garden?
Yes, there is a place for children called Kid’s Garden where small children can play in the snow with items including snow sleds - in a very safe and fun environment. Just buy a ticket to enter the Kids Garden at the Ticket Center and get ski wear and rubber boots at the Ski Rental shop near by the Kid’s Garden.

Note: Rental for snow gloves, goggle, and ski hat is not available because of hygiene.  There are other facilities for young children both at NASPA Ski Garden and inside the hotel.

Activities & sightseeing (during the winter season)
There are some other activities and places that are popular for sightseeing besides skiing.

Yuzawa-kogen Ropeway
Yuzawa Kogen Ropeway is one of the largest ropeways in the world - holding a impressive 166 people! After a 7 minute ascent, you are transported to the 1,300m attitude mountain peak station, with its breathtaking panoramic views of the Yuzawa area. Since it is not possible to ride any of the ski lifts without skis at NASPA Ski Garden, this is one of popular sightseeing spots for those who do not play in snow.

Snowmobile
Ever wanted to try driving a snowmobile through the mountains? Yuzawa Nakazato ski resort offers 'snowmobile land' - with forest tours and night tours available. Fun both for adults, and for families.

Ponshu-kan
The main train station in Yuzawa ("Echigo Yuzawa Station") has a sake tasting area, where you can taste various brands. The station also has an onsen bath with added sake - not for drinking, but said to improve the circulation! Do not get drawn after drinking sake.

Snow Country Museum
The Snow Country Museum shows exhibits of Yuzawa life and history, in particular during the era when Yasunori Kawabata's "Snow Country" novel first made Yuzawa famous. Before the town established a water sprinkler system on all main roads, locals used to make their 1st floor bedroom windows into doors. When the snow piled up, such bedroom doors became the front door access for the house. The Snow Country museum offers a snapshot of life during this era.
